Grammy-award winning a cappella group Ladysmith Black Mambazo marries the intricate rhythms and harmonies of their native South Africa to the sounds and sentiments of Christian gospel music —with a story behind every song and a lot of energetic dancing and humor. Made famous from Paul Simon’s seminal album, Graceland, which is credited with establishing world music in the main stream, Ladysmith Black Mambazo is at the height of their 45-year career. They have recorded with such celebrated artists as Stevie Wonder, Josh Groban, Dolly Parton, Ben Harper, and Natalie Merchant, are one of South Africa’s most prolific recording artists. Ladysmith’s debut at the Shalin Liu Performance Center is just one stop on their international tour.
