Glen Phillips

(of Toad the Wet Sprocket)

Glen Phillips

Best known as the singer and frontman for the chart-topping 90’s alt-rock band Toad the Wet Sprocket, Glen Phillips has had himself quite a second career as a solo artist. Mixing his uncanny gift for melody with thoughtful, introspective lyrics, Phillips’ sound has remained as infectious as ever, deftly shifting from melancholic country folk to punchy power pop with ease.

The Santa Barbara-based singer-songwriter has released six records under his own name since going solo in 1998, not including frequent recording and touring collaborations with the folk/bluegrass band Nickel Creek.

Phillips joined Toad the Wet Sprocket when he was just 14 years old. The band hit it big in 1991 with their third record Fear, the album riding the popularity of two massive pop hits “All I Want” and “Walk on the Ocean.” Just this past fall, Phillips reunited Toad the Wet Sprocket to release the reunion record New Constellation, their first studio record in 16 years

“...heart, melody, and pleasing lack of rock-star attitude.”
— Minneapolis Star Tribune

“Phillips has grown beyond Toad the Wet Sprocket, but the purity and sincerity that made it a hit are still at work here.”
— Paste Magazine
