Bill & Bo Winiker Sextet

Details:
A venerable Boston musical institution, Bill and Bo Winiker having been playing together for half a century--from entertaining Boston-area jazz fans to performing at President Clinton’s inaugural ball. They were taught how to play music, specifically jazz, by their father at a very young age, and through unique arrangements perfected the big sound of a swing band. They have recorded with Billy Joel and performed with Aretha Franklin, yet haven’t missed one gig at Skipjack’s Sunday brunch in over 23 years. With a repertoire of more than 15,000 songs, the Winiker’s can play everything from Duke Ellington to Katy Perry, but as founder of Sculler’s Jazz Club Fred Taylor remarks, they have “great jazz knowledge and performance.” Whatever the tune, “[t]he one ingredient is that [our father] taught us how to make the music come alive,’’ says Bo.
“[I]t’s all about how can we please our guests…How can we give them the best possible time
they’ve ever had?’’
- Bo Winiker
