Shawnn Monteiro and the Mike Renzi Trio
The influence of the great Carmen McRae is evident in the vocal style of Shawnn Monteiro, one of the most highly regarded female jazz vocalists recording today. Her lyrical phrasing and scat technique mark her as a member of McRae’s tradition, and she has displayed her talents in intimate jazz clubs all over the globe. She has taught vocal master classes in Italy since 1995 and is on the music faculties at Rhode Island College and the Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford.
