Live Music performed by Not-So-Silent Cinema
Celebrate Halloween with one of early film’s great masterpieces, Nosferatu (1922), accompanied by Boston composer Brendan Cooney’s original score performed live by a quintet of some of the finest musicians in the Boston area. End the evening on a high note with the slap-stick comedy of Buster Keaton.
Nosferatu
Based on Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Nosferata tells the harrowing tale of real estate clerk Thomas Hutter who falls prey to the mysterious, blood-sucking customs of Count Orlok in Transylvania. Witness Orlok terrorizing a ship, killing the captain and crew, and creating a swarm of plague-ridden rats—only to meet his demise from Hutter’s vengeful, self-sacrificing wife, Ellen. Approximate runtime: 94 minutes.
One Week
Newlyweds Buster Keaton and Sybil Seely take on a build-your-own house project only to be foiled by a jilted suitor who secretly renumbers the packing crates. The comedy reaches a tense climax as the house becomes stuck on railroad tracks. Keaton’s famous physical comedy and dangerous stunts promise to keep you laughing. Approximate runtime: 19 minutes.
